Superior Schools is privileged to sponsor the CRIS designation from its founder, Diane Peterson. Diane began her real estate career in 1978 and soon saw that clients spending less than $5,000,000 on investment properties were not receiving the level of service they deserved.
She became concerned with the fact there was little training for other brokers and began developing her own courses. From this came the Certified Residential Investment Specialist designation.
CRIS allows the broker to evaluate the practicality of real estate investing, for their own benefit as well as their clients. Brokers will now be able to give sound investment advice that will serve their clients financial needs.
The live instruction CRIS course involves only four, one day classes, spread over as many months. These four 7 1/2 hour sessions are packed with intense, comprehensive information designed to prepare the broker to deal with almost all client real estate investment needs. The online version is broken into four separate sections to be taken where and when you choose.
Diane is a wonderful, dynamic instructor. Her teaching skills have been honed from many years in senior management of a large multi-state brokerage firm. With her CCIM and CRB designations she has the credentials and talent to make this course an unforgettable and valuable experience.

Each of the four online sessions are eligible for 7 Oregon Continuing Education credit hours, 28 total. The cost of each of the four segments is $245, and after successful completion of them all, you will be awarded the CRIS designation.
By becoming CRIS certified you will be able to help your clients invest wisely in smaller real estate properties plus Increase your business volume by bringing added value to your existing client base.
The CRIS designation online course consists of four seven hour courses, and a final exam.
Course 100 introduces key investment concepts like cap rates, NOI, cash on cash returns. Each student should have, or be familiar with, the HP 10BII calculator since the course gives step by step instructions on how to use it! You will create APOD's for single family houses and small 'plexes.
Course 200 covers general leasing terms and concepts. Students will create APOD's for small office and small retail investments.
Course 300 covers the long-range aspect of real estate investments. Students will create five year cash flows for investments, allowing calculation of IRR (internal rate of return). You will learn how to structure an offer, or counter-offer, to meet the investor's desired return. No more guessing!
Course 400 covers getting into investments (including using IRA funds), getting out of investments (including sale, exchange and estate planning) as well as some tips on how to share your new knowledge with your clients.
